the K family sneak peek

congratulations to K, who will be meeting a major milestone this weekend, as she'll be receiving her first communion! She was a trooper during our photo shoot, gracefully allowing me "one more shot, I promise!"

her brother was quite a ham, and even made some lady friends while he was off climbing a tree. he is a charmer...

thanks K gang, for a great afternoon at the park!

on gardening...

I love to garden. Its good for my spirit and soul to be in the dirt, digging and making room for seeds to sprout. I love flowers, but I really enjoy growing herbs and veggies.

The only problem I have is that we have groundhogs. Quite a few of them, at that. So, my gardening the past few years has been limited to, well, nothing. This year, I decided to beat the little vermin at their game and bought (this nifty window box) to hang up so they couldnt get at my goods.

When my package arrived from UPS, I tore open the box in anticipation and read the instructions...

"Hire Professional for Installation"

So, I congratulated my husband on his new job, handed him two U bolts (or T bolts, or, some other letter of the alphabet) and let him have his way at the wall. Add Rosemary, Basil and a cherry tomato plant...and I have myself a little garden that the evil little groundhog empire can't get at.

I love it and may just get two more for the other windows, since I now have a professional installer :)

And, speaking of gardens, I had a photo shoot with a sweet young lady who is preparing for her first Holy Communion. I'm not ready to do a whole post for her sneak peek, but here is a little glimpse of the garden we found for her to run around in...

it was divine.

Happy Tuesday!

weekend rewind...

besides watching the Kids Choice Awards at least three times this weekend, once live and the other two reruns that I could have done without, it was a grand weekend in my neck of the woods. My Saturday morning started out with a photo shoot of this beautiful young lady who is college bound in September. It was such a fun shoot...she was up for anything and was full of energy. I really like photo shoots with teenagers, they think outside of the box and are really cooperative when I suggest we climb up walls or pose on loading docks!

Chelsea has been a dancing since she was very little, so we did some shots of her in one of her ballet costumes. We went to a pretty urban area around here and did the shoot right on the street, and it was a blast. I cant wait to finish up her pictures...

the rest of Saturday was spent with little C while Dave took big A and her cousins on a bike ride. We went to the field behind our house and went on a rock hunt and sang songs (rather loudly).

and, while we were at it, we found some sticks and waved them around to ward off the evil groundhog empire that has formed in the clearing behind our house. I have already trapped two of the little suckers and set them free. but, if they keep on coming back and digging up more of my patio, I may need to think of alternate methods. i'm just saying.

when we got back from our walk, we came across Dave and the other kiddos gathering sticks to start a fire...

and we did some serious marshmallow roasting.

have a great week :)

all about ella

the first time I met Ella, we were cool. it was cold outside, but she was little and as long as her momma was close by, she was fine with my camera all up in her face. the second time I was with Ella, we weren't so cool. It was freezing out and she wanted nothing to do with me. at all. I have a few outtakes from that session to prove it, too. so, this time, I was bound and determined to make Ella my pal for an hour or so. I decided to bring in the big guns {yellow balloons} to entice a smile or two. she was such a little ham...I had a great time playing with her, and it didnt hurt that the weather was actually nice for once :) and, not to talk smack about her dad, but we asked him to hold the balloons for a few shots and he accidentally let go of them. this is the kids reaction after we heard a little scream coming from where he was standing... thanks, Q crew, for a fun afternoon!!

outtakes

i have an older brother and remember, quite clearly, what it was like when we were little...

my brother and i fought, a lot. i remember when he would grab me and wrestle me to the ground, not unlike this:

but little Nick wasn't wrestling with his sister. he was just so happy to take his picture with her, that he wanted her to sit on his lap so he could hug her

she doesnt look too distressed, right?

location, location, location

i've been off scouting out some new places for photo shoots, and i think i found some really neat spots to take folks to, which i'm excited about....i like to mix things up. now, if only some of the brown would go away and the green would bloom!

i found a covered bridge & wide open spaces...

railroad bridges and lots of new tracks to explore...abandoned warehouses, cool staircases, bright colors...

and because i'm a traditional gal, a new historical site off the beaten path...

let the spring photo season begin!!
